Radwag from Lasec – A New Generation of Microbalances


The New generation
of microbalances from Radwag, the MYA 3Y, is designed to meet the highest requirements for determination of mass. Measurement reliability and accuracy are maintained by system of automatic internal adjustment / calibration.

Each microbalance comprises two major components (an indicator and a precise mechanical measuring system which are enclosed separately). The device design eliminates an influence of heat sourcing from instrument's electronics on its mechanical components and additionally protects it from shocks and vibrations caused by users operating the instrument. All the elements of a microbalance are made of glass and steel which eliminates an impact of electrostatics on weighing process.

A high-efficiency combustion furnace, improved IR cell design, and a robust, rugged design make the 832 a valuable resource for any laboratory needing fast and accurate analysis of sulfur and/or carbon in organic materials.




The 832 uses LECO’s exclusive Cornerstone® brand software, which enables complete access to analysis control, method settings, diagnostics, reporting, and more in a highly organized, intuitive, and immersive environment. The Cornerstone Mobile option provides access to data, plots, and instrument status from the user’s smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer.

Highlights of the 832 include a high-efficiency furnace system design which is composed of a ceramic horizontal high-temperature furnace with intelligent control that optimizes furnace reliability, and a ceramic lance that directs oxygen onto the sample to ensure rapid analysis times and complete combustion.

An improved solid-state IR cell design with temperature stabilized construction provides increased isolation from temperature fluctuations.

 Optimized emitter control and detection circuitry improves cell lifetime and long-term stability. Design and accessibility for maintenance areas has also been improved to enhance safety and convenience.

The 832 series is available in several configurations to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications. Models include the S832 for sulfur, S832DR for dual range sulfur, C832 for carbon, SC832 for both sulfur and carbon, and the SC832DR dual range sulfur with carbon determinator.

The Performance package adds an instrument leak check feature and electronic back pressure control.



 

Agilent Technologies Boosts Productivity of Biopharmaceutical Labs with MassHunter Enhancements

Easy-to-Use Software Improves Analysis Consistency, Transferability
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 12, 2015

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced new software releases designed to make research and development easier for scientists in the biopharmaceutical field.

Enhancements to the company's industry-leading MassHunter BioConfirm and MassHunter Walkup products enable researchers to more easily focus on protein characterization, helping them obtain molecular weight, locate post-translational modifications in protein sequences, and create comprehensive peptide maps with speed and accuracy.

 

 "With the shift from small-molecule pharmaceuticals to large-molecule biopharmaceuticals, companies need to retool their discovery operations in terms of both laboratory equipment and employee skill sets," said Gurmil Gendeh, Ph.D., director of Biopharmaceutical Segment Marketing for Agilent.

"We have responded with software tools that allow virtually anyone to use highly advanced instruments for tandem liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry."

Dr. Gendeh noted that the Agilent software for biopharmaceutical analysis is easy to learn and easy to use. "Agilent has taken the lead in offering biologists the ability to walk up to an LC/MS instrument and get back excellent analytical results," he said. "The software greatly improves user-to-user and day-to-day consistency and allows for easy method transferability between laboratories and sites."


   

The software significantly reduces the learning curve for researchers because they can submit samples through a simple, three-step process. The system then emails the results to them, using reports that were designed by and for biologists.

Far less training (and far less setup time) is required, so researchers can focus on advancing new biological entities along their company's development pipeline. What's more, the Agilent software provides more accurate results because it makes use of Agilent databases and searches for more diverse, post-translational modifications than other systems.
